Our Faith Based Partners

The Mississippi Public Health Institute’s Congregational Recovery Outreach Program (MSPHI-CROP) aims to reduce racialized behavioral health disparities by partnering with three Hinds County congregations (Jackson Revival Center, Pearl Street AME Church, and New Horizon Church International) and the local mental health provider (Hinds Behavioral Health Services). These churches were selected based on their respective locations, long-standing history of providing social services for members of under-resourced communities, reach to broad populations, and ardent focus on health equity, as well as a commitment to fulfill the scope of work outlined in the partnership agreement with MSPHI.

How can I be involved with CROP?

Join CROP Trainings

Attend one of our partnering churches scheduled trainings to better understand addiction and mental illness challenges and learn tips on how to create a culture of acceptance and support.

Talk About It

Talk openly from the pulpit, in small groups, and at family gatherings about addiction and mental illness.  Open dialogues help eliminate the stigma and shame around seeking help.

Host an Addiction and Recovery Workshop

Lead the way in demonstrating love by removing the stigma, educating members about the warning signs of misuse, help with seeking treatment, and provide access to resources for recovery. Invite mental health professionals to be presenters and/or guest speakers.

Make Referrals

Serve as a referral source by directing individuals and/or families of loved ones facing the challenges of addiction and mental illness to one of CROP’s partnering churches who will make confidential referrals to behavioral health providers equipped to assess and provide treatment
